The band that I'll talk about today is Interpol.

Interpol is an American band of Indie Rock, formed in 1997, consists of four elements, Paul Banks (vocals, guitar), Daniel Kessler (guitar, back vocals) and Sam Fogarino (drums and percussion).

I discovered this band when I went to my colleague's house in March to spend a fun afternoon playing computer, both of us appreciate good music, both of us heard the same style of music. So that same afternoon he showed me this band.

I heard the album 'Our Love To Admire' which was released in 2007 and I liked it, for me the best song of this album is 'Pace Is The Trick'.

Chris Martin and co joke about their band's status at an intimate London show

Frontman Chris Martin told the crowd during the band's set: "We had to settle on being shit Radiohead. We're called that sometimes, you know."

Coldplay will play a massive UK tour next summer, playing a total of seven shows at football stadiums, including three nights at Arsenal FC's Emirates Stadium. They will also play a short UK arena tour next month as well as a fundraising gig at London's O2 Arena to raise money for the children's charity Kids Company.

The three guys will begin to work on the next album next year.

After "Battle For The Sun" they're ready to do it again and make some good music for us to put our ears on it.

But, the band admitted that they are still recovering their last album tour. Speaking to Billboard.com the band's bassist Stefan Olsdal has said that the band will need "a bit of a breather". More updates will come to us and we will bring to you soon about their next album, that we expect to be as good as the last one.

Radiohead announce 2012 European tour

Radiohead have announced more dates for their planned 2012 world tour.

The band, who have already confirmed a 10-date North American tour for February 2012, have now announced five shows across Europe in June and July.

The band are expected to announce UK and more European dates in the coming weeks, but have not said when this will be as yet.

The guitarrist of the band "Ed O'Brien" said that the setlist of the 2012 tour would be more from "The King Of Limbs" opposing to the "Greatest Hits" setlist that they played int the last tour.

Saturday Beginning Story of Bloc Party!

It was four years ago, in a land not too far away from where I am now, but a land where I used to live, it was there where I met a band that even today as a great impact in me, not just with a positive effect but with a more negative effect too.

Bloc Party is the name of this four-piece band from London, England who rocked my life when I was still thirteen years old.

It was after school, I was in my parents room watching MTV when it started to play "Hunting For Witches" and my reaction couldn't be better, I started to dance and to try singing a long and for the first time I had an Indie Rock feeling inside of me, and I can say too that it was the first band that I met for the first time that I really enjoyed since the first guitar riff.

If you haven't realized yet this is the "Saturday Beginning Story" of Bloc Party, for me one of the greatest bands from England nowadays.

And I have not much to say to you after a short story about how I met them, all I can do is show to you how great they are:

Alex Turner says "I'm getting into country music"

Alex Turner has stated to NME, that while he was writing songs for "Suck It And See" he was also getting into Country Music. When NME asked about where the band got inspiration to the sound of "Suck It And See", Alex Turner stated: "I started getting into country music which is something I've never gone anywhere near until quite recently, like I never understood it before.".

In reality when we compare country music to the sound of "Suck It And See", we don't see the connection, but that was also explained by the Monkeys frontman: "They're really sort of smart arses sometimes those guys, like George Jones and that kind of thing. The sound doesn't speak to me but the lyrics do." At least now we now where the more "romantic" lyrics came from.

About the Arctic Monkeys future he also said some words: "'Black Treacle', the single we're releasing next year, we're recording a B-side for that. It's a little bit more rock'n'roll. A lot of the album was more mellow.". Lets just expect those new recordings and the release of their new single next year.

Stylish Gorillaz Chuck Taylor All Star collection!

What?! A Gorillaz themed Chuck Taylor All Star? Yup, you read it right. Converse just made a deal with the band, for a new collection of their most famous shoes. The prints design was made by the band co-creator Jamie Hewlett, it will not be a limited edition and will come out in February 2012, this also means anyone can acquire it for a reasonable price, which should be around 60$(£38 or 45€).

And the news don't just stop here, as we also confirmed, there will be also a musical collaboration, maybe some commercial with a brand new song from Gorillaz. For a band that recently was stated that could be in the end, this could be a new beginning to other projects and other future, let's hope so.

The singer of The Kooks is now working on a dance project that "is sounding massive" and it is very different from his previous jobs.

He wrote in a blog that he penned for "The Huffington Post": "I'm working on something at the moment with some very different production, I'll post it as soon as it's ready, it's sounding massive. I've never done anything like it, it's dance music essentially."

And earlier this year he said that the band was also a bit stale before the release of "Junk Of The Heart".

Nirvana for Christmas Number One? The odds say yes!

There was a Facebook campaign earlier in this year to make the single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to be at the top place in the Christmas UK Singles Battle. This already happen two years ago, when a similar campaign happen to promote the single "Killing in the Name" from Rage Against The Machine, the campaign was successfully, and it was the most selling single back then in the Christmas of 2009.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes divulged the odds, of who could be the winners this year, and it looks Nirvana are very well placed in the race, along with some usual suspects(winner of X Factor), and Amy Winehouse could be there to give fight to. All we can do is wait to see what happens in Christmas(or buy one of the singles to help in the race).

Saturday again, and a beginning story coming out of the oven just for you!

The band that I'll show to you, is from Leicestershire, England and they really know how to make you sing a long!

And with me singing now along with Tom Meighan listening to "Fire" I write and present to you the "Saturday Beginning Story" of Kasabian!

A long time ago, 4 years or so I used to wake up to school at 7am and so I do now but right then I used to wake up and turn on the television, and the first and only channel that I saw was MTV2 and it used to show video clips of bands like, Kaiser Chiefs, Kings Of Leon and Franz Ferdinand but when it was 7:55am more or less it used to show the video clip of the song "Empire" of Kasabian and my reaction was always the same, I used to look at the television grab the remote and press the red button that would turn off the television and put me out of home, the ignorant part of me did that for a few months, but a few months later too I was listening to some bands on YouTube and out of the blue I saw a recommendation of a video of Kasabian, and I stopped the ignorant part of me and I pressed play, that day I listened to "Shoot The Runner" and I swear that after listening to one of the greatest songs of them I'm really in love with all the fuzzy dancing and singing beats of Kasabian, one of the greatest english bands of nowadays!

So after another great Saturday Beginning Story all I can do is recommend to you on of their newest songs called "Velociraptor!" of their newest album "Velociraptor!":

They started playing some gigs again, and we also know that some new recordings will begin soon. MGMT "disappointed" some fans and the general critic with their last album, and then the tour they did wasn't as lucrative as previous one.
Back then they said it was the right choice, which was doing something different and they did enjoy it, but the reality later came to show them that the numbers still rule the music industry, which means their label will be very close in the making of their new work. For now let's just hear the new stuff...

Rick Rubin, the co-president of Columbia Records is going to produce the first new album of Black Sabbath in 33 years.

On June 10 next year, Black Sabbath are ready to headline Download Festival.

Rick Rubin joined the band to produce the new album, the first to come from the original line-up since "Never Say Die!". Ozzy Osbourne even said that Rubin was the obvious choice because he knew him for many years.

But the album is only expected to be released after the Download Festival.

Miles Kane who has the partnership of "The Last Shadow Puppets" with Alex is guesting with the Monkeys on their UK tour.

Kane also appeared on the B-side "Little Ilusion Machine (Wirral Ridler)" of the song "The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala" their summer single.

And at the moment, Arctic Monkeys are about to conclude their current UK tour next week. They play at the AECC in Aberdeen tonight, before hitting the SECC Hall 4 in Glasgow on November 8th and the Liverpool Echo Arena the day after.

Saturday Beginning Story of The Kooks!

Today is Saturday again and as you know, the right time for another Saturday Beginning Story!

The band that I'll talk about is "The Kooks".

It is a band formed by four members, Luke Pritchard, Hugh Harris, Peter Denton and Paul Garred.

I started to listen to this band when some big friends of mine showed me when I was in their house for lunch.

At the beginning it wasn't a band that I enjoyed and that I would pay attention, but when I started to listen more, on the way to school, at home and in other ocasions, then I started to see a band with great style.

I was blown away with the single "Always Where I Need to Be" from the album "Konk" that was released in 2008.

This band was "grown up" musically, I had the opportunity of seeing them at SuperBock SuperRock Festival 2011, and the surprised me a lot, I wasn't expecting that much,it seemed that live they were better than on studio. On this Festival they played new songs from "Junk of the Heart", the latest album released in 2011.

"Junk of the Heart" it's an album very well done, with happy songs, that can captivate the attention of whose listening.

Reading And Leeds Festivals chief promises 'terrific headliners' for 2012

Next year's Reading And Leeds Festivals will have "terrific" headliners, according to the event's chief.

Melvin Benn, managing director at organiser Festival Republic, told BBC Newsbeat that he's already locked in some "very exciting" bookings for 2012.

He said: "I couldn't be happier overall with where we're going with all the festivals."

Benn added that he's also pleased with the progress of the line-up for next year's Latitude, commenting: "I've just had a brilliant conversation about an act I was desperate to play Latitude and now I'm pretty sure will play Latitude."

Last year's Reading And Leeds Festivals were headlined by Muse, My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and Pulp. The likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Interpol,Elbow, 30 Seconds To Mars and Beady Eye also appeared across the weekend.

Kings Of Leon slam Qantas Airways for 'fucking up' their tour plans

Kings Of Leon's Nathan Followill has slammed Qantas Airways after the carrier's flight cancellations 'fucked up' the band's tour plans.

Flights from the Australian airline have remained grounded for a second day today (October 30) after a row between management and three of its unions over proposed job cuts.

This has forced the Followills to take diverted flights to reach their rescheduled gigs Down Under next week, something that has rankled the drummer.

Writing on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/doctorfollowill, the drummer said:

"Dear Qantas, u suck, thanks 4 fucking up my trip 2 Oz. Joberg-Dubai-Sydney. 24 hours in the air. That's how much I love Oz."

He added:
"The silver lining is that we are throwing one hell of a halloween party on the plane. I'm going as the drunk guy in seat 5a."

The band played in Johannesburg, South Africa last night (29) and are due to kick off their Australian dates next Friday (November 4) at Sydney's Acer Arena, with shows in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth also pencilled in.

The gigs, originally slated for March, were rescheduled after Nathan sustained an arm injury in January, putting him out of action for three months.

Today is Saturday again and as you know, the right time for another Saturday Beginning Story!

The band that I'll talk about is not great in introducing themselves and not great in saying goodbye but they're masters of playing real music!

And with great enthusiasm I'll introduce to you the "Saturday Beginning Story" of The Strokes!

It was not so long ago, when I arrived from school and I entered my room and I listened to a few seconds of "Reptilia" and I asked my brother "What's that?" and he said "The Strokes", I listened a few more seconds and I said "Same old shit" but days after that I regretted of saying it because I listened to "Juicebox" and later to "Ize Of The World" and I got addicted to it so strongly that a month later it was my favorite band.

Today, is Saturday and just like another regular day I'm listening to The Strokes latest album "Angles" and I'm enjoying every bit of it, I surely regret the day that I said that it was shit 'cause today it is the most important band in my life, it changed my attitude, my way of seeing things, being more brave and strong. Definitely, The Strokes are the fathers of Indie Rock and one of the greatest bands I'll ever see!

Beady Eye man says he would love to celebrate the 20th anniversary of '(what's The Story) Morning Glory' if he can put this 'shit aside' with Noel.

Liam Gallagher has said he would consider burying the hatchet with his brother Noel for an Oasis reunion in 2015 to mark the 20th anniversary of '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?'.

Despite the singer recently issuing legal action against his brother over comments made about the band pulling out of the V Festival in 2009, the Beady Eye frontman said he would rejoin the band if they could put their differences behind them.

He told Rolling Stone magazine:

"In 2015, if we can put our shit aside, we can tour and play the album in its entirety for the 20th anniversary. I'd be up for that, if it's on our terms. There's got to be two-way respect."

Noel Gallagher also recently said he may have been too hasty quitting the ban and said he would have loved to have played their seminal album in its entirety in 2015.

Liam Gallagher added:

"He's the one that keeps mentioning, I want to put him out of his misery. But I think he needs to do his solo thing first and realise he's not that good without his brother. He's got to find out for himself. I'm up for it - I'm not desperate for it. If it doesn't work out, I don't give a shit, I'm quite Happy with [current band] Beady Eye."

Today is Saturday, the day before Sunday and the day after Friday, it isn't just another day, it's the first day of a weekend and the first day of a holiday of two days, at least it is for me, the best day of the weekend.

And so is Saturday so unusual that we decided to create a space were we will show you how we begun to listen to the bands that we hear nowadays.

And with a fresh and dancing start I'll introduce to you the "Saturday Beginning Story" of Beirut!

When we think: "how did I met that band?" we start thinking back in time and we realize that it is fantastic how we loved the band before and we love the band now and how the time didn't changed anything at all, but the story of me starting to know Beirut is a bit funny because I didn't showed real interest in the great band of Zach Condon that is the frontman of it and the real genius but at the end I had a different opinion, let's get to the real deal.

"Once upon a time", I started to listen to a band called "Local Natives" and I loved the drumming the singing and every bit of it, but one day I arrived from school and my brother said: "I know a band that is similar to that but even better", and I didn't gave a damn to what he was saying and just listened to what he was saying like we do in school to our teachers, we just listen and don't give a damn. A day after he showed me "Nantes", a great song from them and it started to intrigue me and I realized that they were good at least, then I started to listen more and more and I fell in love with "A Sunday Smile". A week after that I realized that Beirut is a great band, and I admitted: "they're better than Local Natives".

Today is Saturday and just like another day, I want so much to hear to "Payne's Bay" or any other song of the great band that is "Beirut" a project created by Zachary Condon!

Kasabian - Velociraptor! album review

We all know that Kasabian are around the world of music for a while and we all know that they know what they're doing. So I took time, not much 'cause with an album like this it isn't difficult to realize that it is a great album.

11 tracks, 50 minutes and 38 seconds that can be resumed in a feeling of satisfaction at the end of hearing it as a piece of magic that it is, but with a feeling of wanting to hear it again, and again too!

I could say much more, but we all know that the main man in this album is Sergio Pizzorno and he is the magician behind the magic, I could say too that Meighan could give more than just his voice in every song, 'cause if you don't know Kasabian you won't know who writes it but if you know, you will know that Sergio Pizzorno did the job and Meighan and the others just followed the lead, but this isn't an album that deserves a bad critic and I don't know nothing about music compared to those four guys so I'll just say that it is a perfect album, it got me addicted not just for being something different but 'cause they are a band in a few that made four albums and four great albums.

After not so much writing 'cause an album like this is good enough, simple and fast at getting into your brain I'm pretty sure that a 9/10 is the level of the album.

Noel Gallagher has revealed that he has finally made up with Damon Albarn after their spat during the height of Britpop in the mid-'90s.

The pair haven't spoken in over 15 years following the war of words between Blur and Oasis which kicked off in 1995 when they went head-to-head in the UK's singles chart and the former beat the Manchester band to Number One with their hit 'Country House'. But Gallagher, who is currently set to top the UK album chart with his debut solo album 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds', said they recently bumped into each other and went for a beer.
The war Oasis/Blur started in the top of Britpop era, when Damon Albarn's band successfully won the battle against brothers Gallagher's band for the top place in singles chart, with "Country House" making it's way to top.

About the period after the break up of Oasis, in 2009, Gallagher said: "I would've joined that band in a heartbeat but they never asked," he said. "I never really got calls off anyone. I never had Bono phoning me, saying, 'I've always thought The Edge could do with some back-up'. So, if you're reading this and you're in a band that sells in excess of 15 to 20 million albums and you need a rhythm guitarist, then…"

"So, we're sitting there, having a beer, just going, What the fuck was all that about 15 years ago? That was mental." Then he said, Then he said, "It was a great time, though," and I was like, "Yeah, it was a fucking good laugh." explained Noel Gallagher.

Muse manager Anthony Addis hints new album in October 2012

Anthony Addis made an exclusive interview for Billboard.biz, were he said Muse are working in new album, and that they have a lot of material to work it. As he stated in that interview "They've now gone into the recording studio. The plan is to do it all in London. Hopefully, the album might come out October next year.". This are great new to the fans of the band, but we will still be in doubts to know what to expect. Their last studio effort for most fans wasn't a masterpiece, and we personally think they have more to show. We hope their "Twilight adventure" they did in the past doesn't leave anymore traces like it did on "The Resistance".

European tour takes place in closed spaces, guarantees Ed O'Brien.

Radiohead have begun to reveal details about the tour they plan to do in 2012. Speaking to the BBC, guitarist Ed O'Brien said the band is currently agreed dates and that will ride on the road between February and November, between Europe and the United States.

Ed O'Brien said that while he thought of shows in outdoor spaces such as festivals, most concerts in Europe will be performed in concert halls closed, because playing the songs from the album The King of Limbs in major events "does not sound good", said Ed O'Brien.

"The last time we went on the road, it seemed that was "In Rainbows" more the big hits. And it will not be like that now. We'll play mostly the songs of this album and then songs that fit in these" he said.

The band's guitarist added: "The outdoor concerts can be great, but the sound can be diluted a bit. And we feel the lack of bass, too. We are at the mercy of the elements and I think this album asks spaces where listen to music high, strong and detailed."

The 50 best new bands of 2010

The music bible NME isn’t just in raptures about the return of The Strokes in 2010 – the magazine has also rated its top 50 new bands.

The Middle East is the only Australian act to make it onto the list, coming in at a very respectable 17th with the NME explaining the band’s inclusion by pointing to the fact that Marcus Mumford has touted the group as “the most inspiring new band around.”

Two acts that visited us as part of the Splendour lineup also made the cut, with Delphic ranked at 38 and The Drums only topped by “cat-obsessed stoners” Best Coast for the title of best new band of 2010.

The seventh place finisher Darwin Deez – described by NME as “The most likeable hipster in the world” – will also be touring Australia soon as part of the Parklife lineup.

Californian hardcore malcontents Trash Talk – booked to play at Soundwave 2011 – managed to score the 34th place on the list for possessing “an ability to whip audiences into scenes of cultish adoration and violent chaos within the space of a few chords.”

The top ten 10 includes two bands that will be touring Australia over the New Years festival season – with (the next Florence?) Marina & The Diamonds taking out the sixth place and Sleigh Bells finishing just outside the medals in fourth place.

Hopefully we’ll soon see some of the others touring Australia soon.

Interpol: 'Carlos D had his foot out the door in 2007'

Interpol have said that their former bassist Carlos Dengler had his "foot out the door" even when they were working on their 2007 album, 'Our Love To Admire'.

Dengler left the band earlier this year after completing work on the band's self-titled fourth album.

Drummer Sam Fogarino told NME that the move wasn't a bolt from the blue. "Carlos had his foot out the door a long time ago," he explained. "Even on the last record."

He added: "His conflict rested in the fact that he enjoyed writing and recording music with the band. It's doing interviews and the travelling roadshow that he didn't want."

'Interpol' is out on September 13.

Beach house add UK tour dates

Breakthrough act Beach House have confirmed a series of British tour dates this November.

Releasing their third album earlier this year, Beach House could have been forgiven for expecting it to be ignored. Despite rave reviews, their opening two salvos of blissful dream pop had failed to impact upon the mainstream.

Yet with 'Teen Dream' the group seemed to tap into some communal feeling. Buoyed by word of mouth hype, the album has become a sleeper hit with fans across the world being introduced to the band.

Beach House have spent the bulk of 2010 on the road, making some important appearances. At the recent Hard Rock Calling event the band headlined the Bella Union stage, celebrating the roster of their British label.

Vampire Weekend are notable fans, with the Ivy League outfit inviting the dream pop group on tour. Taking them across North America, the tour contained some of the largest venues Beach House have played to date.

The Baltimore duo have honed their live show on the enormous dates, with British fans set to reap the benefit.

The band have confirmed a series of UK shows this November. Beach House are due to open the tour in Manchester's Cathedral on November 19th, before taking off around the country.

Dates in Glasgow, London and Bristol follow before the tour wraps up in Brighton on November 25th. The short tour will be one of the band's final engagements of 2010, set to go on sale shortly.

Support acts have yet to be confirmed.

Coldplay Sign New Publishing Deal With Universal

Coldplay have extended their publishing deal with Universal Music.

The financial terms of the deal have not been made public, but a tabloid newspaper described it as a “megabucks” agreement.

The group have been with Universal since the label acquired BMG Music Publishing in 2007.

Paul Connolly, president of Europe and U.K., Universal Music Publishing, told Billboard the band represented “all that's great about music today”.

Coldplay are currently recording the follow-up to 2008's 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends'.

It is not yet clear whether the album, which is yet to be titled, will arrive before the end of 2010.

Shout Out Louds are back

After a six month break, the Stockholm band are set to release their third album entitled 'Work' on 20th September. The album is the product of the band's reunion, after taking time out to see new things, people and places – and undoubtedly new inspiration.

Produced by Seattle based soundsmith Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, The Shins), the album itself sees an authentic, old fashioned method of production.

Alongside the new album, Shout Out Louds will release two enticing videos. The first is a video of 'Four by Four', which was recorded at (the very cramped!) Bear Creek Studios, Seattle in September '09.

In addition to this, Shout Out Louds have recorded a cover of Band of Horses' 'Is there a Ghost'. Taken from the band's 'Cease To Begin' album, the track went on to establish Band Of Horses' wonderful alt country sounds.

The Scandinavian indie rock posse have seized control of 'Is There A Ghost' and the new version is accompanied by a beautiful film. In keeping with past promotional shoots, both videos have been created by Ted Malmros.

The Killers' Brandon Flowers showcases 'Flamingo' at debut solo show

The Killers' Brandon Flowers showcased material from his forthcoming debut solo album 'Flamingo' last night (August 15), and you can see fan footage of the set closer 'Playing With Fire' below.

Playing the Shimmer Showroom in the Las Vegas Hilton, Flowers performed a 10-song set that included songs such as 'Magdalena', a stripped down version of The Killers' 'Losing Touch', a cover of Kim Carnes' 'Bettie Davis Eyes' and upcoming single 'Crossfire', reports Spin.com.

Currently on his first solo tour of the US, the frontman will release 'Flamingo' on September 6.

The View play secret hometown show

Indie scamps The View broke cover last night (August 12th) to play a secret show in their hometown of Dundee.

It's pretty rare for a band to be so linked to one venue, but when The View play The Doghouse in their hometown of Dundee something special happens.

Back when the band were an aspiring covers act the venue took the band under their wing, offering them a play to rehearse. Rapidly turning into a 24/7 party zone, The View were also able to sculpt their debut album.

First Dundee fell in love with them, before 'Hats Off To The Buskers' raced to number one. With their complex second album 'Which Bitch?' now a memory, The View are currently working on new material.

Catching up with the band this summer, The View treated ClashMusic to an exclusive playback of some new tracks. The group were hugely excited about the new material, which has the immediacy of their debut and the ambition of its follow up.

Announced via their Facebook page, The View played The Doghouse last night with little notice. Arranged as a last minute guerilla show, the gig was confirmed just a few hours before show time.

Blasting through a mixture of old favourites and unheard new material, The View paused to dedicate one song to their "spiritual home". The Doghouse moved location last year after a battle with the local council, but has bounced back to provide up and coming local talent a place to thrive.

Introducing a number of new tracks, the appearance follows on from their recent Main Stage slot at T In The Park. Performing two new songs, the band were drenched in beer by the Balado crowd.

Maximo Park's Paul Smith: 'Solo album is born from seven-year itch'

Maximo Park's Paul Smith has spoken about how he made a solo album because he had a "seven-year itch" in the band.

The singer is releasing his own record, 'Margins', on October 11. He told NME that he thought he was making his own album for the same reason that The Killers' Brandon Flowers and Bloc Party's Kele Okereke have.

"I do think it's a seven-year itch," he suggested. "Bloc Party and The Killers started around the same time as us and I think if you're a creative individual your interests are going to be all over the place. It makes sense to do something a bit different."

'Margins' is being released on Smith's own record label, Billingham Records.

Carl Barat prepares solo album, book

Returning indie icon Carl Barat is preparing to release his debut solo album and a new book.

Carl Barat has never liked to rest on his laurels. Throwing himself into new challenges, he split Dirty Pretty Things after just two albums in order to try his hand at acting and work on solo material.

Appearing in a number of productions earlier this year, Carl Barat has kept his cards close to his chest when discussing his solo career. Playing a handful of shows, the singer is now preparing to unleash his debut solo album.

Self-titled, Carl Barat will release the album through his own Arcady Records label. Due to hit record shops on October 4th, the long player will come trailed by first single 'Run With The Boys'.

Due out the same day, the material has been kept firmly under wraps. Forming a new five piece band, Carl Barat is preparing to arrange a lengthy British and European tour to promote the album.

His first full scale solo tour, the singer is set to wait until his duties with The Libertines are over. The iconic group reformed recently, and are due to make a headline appearance at Reading and Leeds.

Meanwhile, Carl Barat is also close to completing his new book. 'Threepenny Memoir' is due to be released later this year, and is apparently a series of stories taken from his own life and career.

Giving new insight into his work, the book will also reveal some inside stories from the career of The Libertines.

Klaxons to release album outtakes as EP

Klaxons say they intend to release the outtakes from their last album as an EP.

The band, whose second album 'Surfing The Void' is released on August 23, recorded a variety of songs for the record which did not ultimately make the cut.

However, Klaxons have told Zane Lowe that they now intend to release the tracks that did not fit the final album on their own at some point.

"It sounds folky, it's not a record for a start it's an EP, which will see the light of day at some point," James Righton confirmed. "It's a lot more complicated, a lot more considered as well. Lots of layered vocals."

Bassist Jamie Reynolds added that the outtakes were a lot slower than the songs that made 'Surfing The Void'.

"It's quite slow, there's a waltz on it and it's just great. A seven-minute waltz!" he explained. "We've taken tracks and taken all the music out and replaced it with drones – it's very drudgy and slow and beautiful and odd."

Reynolds also explained the reason why the band conducted the various sessions, before recording the lion's share of the album in California with producer Ross Robinson in the video interview on ZaneLowe.com.

"I think it was just a case of we'd only written 15 songs before [we started writing this album]," he said. "I think we went to perfect our craft, learning to write songs, figuring out how to write songs and lyrics. It was a time, having only written a small batch, to concentrate on what we were good at and figure that out without any consideration of writing a pop record."

Klaxons are set to play the Reading And Leeds Festivals which take place between August 27 and 29.

The Drums Get Melancholic

Fast rising newcomers The Drums have spoken about the melancholic streak which runs through their music.

Emerging at the beginning of 2010, The Drums arrived with a colossal amount of hype. With their debut album now adorning record collections across the country, fans can see what all the fuss is about.

The band match strident indie pop with some rather more downbeat. Lyrically, The Drums tend to focus on melancholic subjects, with their debut album containing some rather tender and moving moments.

Speaking to lead singer Jonathan Pierce, it becomes clear that this is a natural tendency within his songwriting. Asked if he could write a happy song, the frontman admits that he would struggle.

"Well, I think I can’t and I don’t want to, and I think I don’t want to because I can’t" he explained. "It would be very strange for me to write a song that was purely happy. I don’t understand how anyone can relate to a song like that - I’ve certainly never been able to."

"I think if I set out to write a happy song and actually pulled it off, it would be the most insincere thing that I could write, you know? I’ve always naturally been drawn to the more melancholy and sad part - like, the bands that I listen to, the songs that I love, the movies that I love, the photos that I love all have this eternal sadness woven throughout them in some way, shape or form. I can’t relate to people who don’t have a single question or a single concern or a single problem; I just feel like they’re not alive or something, they have no soul."

The band have come of age together, with their debut album representing the end of a steep learning curve. Jacob Graham claimed that despite recording an album together he still struggles to play his instrument.

"I can’t speak for the other guys, but for me personally I couldn’t play the guitar when we started this band and I still technically can’t. I can’t play a single chord, I can’t play a song that isn’t The Drums’ songs - I think that I’ve got better at playing The Drums’ songs, but on the guitar I don’t think I ever do anything terribly impressive."

The Drums Talk Hype

New York surf-pop group The Drums have spoken about the incredible hype surrounding their debut album.

Born in Florida, coming of age in New York The Drums became one of the hottest bands of 2010. The band's chirping surf-pop racket resulted in a pair of singles and a hail of press attention.

With hype surrounding its release, The Drums' debut album came with a fair amount of anticipation. However according to the band they reject media attention, as being a "fleeting thing".

"Hype is a really funny thing" explained Connor Hanwick. "It’s really silly. It’s such a fleeting thing, you know?"

"It doesn’t have much to do with what we’re doing. We have such a specific concept for what we’re doing, and just the fact that we’re so busy, it sort of prevents us from really being fully aware of what’s actually going on. We can’t really be objective to it."

Released to widespread acclaim, the band's debut album was a refreshing blast of classic indie pop. However with this praise comes renewed pressure to live up to the press maintained hype.

Singer Jonathan Pierce was also keen to ignore any expectations surrounding The Drums' output. "This band started with the idea of just doing what we wanted to do for ourselves, and we didn’t have any interest in what other people thought or how other people would feel about what we were doing."

"We’ve just got to be conscious of not being conscious of what people are thinking or what people are saying and just try to stay as incubated as possible, and just forget how to be cool, forget the trends and the fads."

Florence & The Machine for MTV Awards

Florence And The Machine are set to perform at this year's spectacular MTV Video Music Awards.

The rise of Florence And The Machine continues. Like an unstoppable ginger juggernaut the singer's debut album 'Lungs' has sold countless thousand copies, spawning a total of seven hit singles.

That cover of 'You've Got The Love' withstanding, the album introduced a rare pop talent. Starting her charge on the United States, Florence And The Machine have been chosen to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Set to take part in what MTV calls "one giant work of avant garde art" the singer's performance will no doubt be show stopping. Nominated for a total of four trophies, Florence And The Machine are up for "Video of the Year", as well as "Best Rock Video", "Best Cinematography" and "Best Art Direction".

Speaking to USA Today the singer explained that she was overjoyed simply to be nominated. "To be performing and nominated at this years VMAs is completely amazing and especially for the song 'Dog Days' as I recorded that song in a cupboard with no instruments and the sound of the drums was me banging my hands on the wall, clacking pens on Mpc’s and generally causing a cacophony with anything I could lay my hands on."

"For this song to be recognized at such an iconic event is a total dream. For me ‘Dog Days’ symbolizes apocalyptic euphoria, Chaotic freedom and running really really fast with your eyes closed. I hope to somehow encapsulate those things in my performance at this years VMA’s. I would also hugely like to thank everyone at the VMA’s for giving me this opportunity."

Charging the United States, Florence And The Machine performed at Coachella earlier this year. Set to play a host of Stateside dates, the singer has already sold out some shows on her upcoming tour.

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs album review

After 2007's Neon Bible second album from Arcade Fire being well received by the critics, The Suburbs arrives after another three-year period being recorded at the hometown of the band and in New York.

Listening to 16 tracks it's a bit hard but we listened from the beginning to the end and after that it appears to be an album that was unlikely to succeed and was a test for the band, with some melodic songs with acoustic guitar and slow rhythm's like Wasted Hours and then jumping for an huge contrast like the fiery punk number Month of May.

The album is made of 16 tracks that can operate on a level of subconscious infiltration that surpasses your imagination.

With some attention to the propulsive Ready to Start that shows a feeling of explosion and a need to express feelings compared to City With No Children that shows some lyrical darkness but still allowing the instrumental part to appear and make the song complete.

After hearing the album from top to bottom we realize that Arcade Fire didn't changed to much but at the same time showed some beat that at first sight it looks like Local Natives and a bit of the melodic sound of Death Cab for Cutie with a lyrical power and background sound that can break into your heart leaving you with a feeling of nostalgia, wanting to express yourself out and let others know what you're feeling.

It is not a perfect album and not as catchy as others, but after all it’s a good piece of work and very deep, for that we give it a 8 out of 10.

Libertines announce Reading And Leeds Festivals warm-up show

The Libertines will play a Reading And Leeds Festivals warm-up show at London's HMV Forum on August 25.

The chance to buy tickets will be offered on a ballot basis to fans who sign up to thelibertines.com.

Fans can register for the chance to buy up to two tickets each until 6pm (BST) on Friday (August 13).

Following the show the reuniting band will play the Leeds Festival on the Friday (27) and Reading Festival on the Saturday (28).

The Cribs Confirm New Off Single

Wakefield indie giants The Cribs have confirmed details of their new single 'Housewife'.

The Cribs don't like to hang around. Despite being scattered across both sides of the Atlantic the indie quartet are keen to get back in the studio, and have confirmed the release of a low key new single.

Available as a download and on seven inch, 'Housewife' is released through their long term home of Wichita. Out now, the single was released with little prior warning last night (August 9th).

A typically scratchy, straight forward slice of indie rock 'Housewife' is the first new release from The Cribs in some time. The Wakefield quartet have been busy touring, but recently paired up with producer Edwyn Collins.

Scottish indie legend Collins has helmed recording sessions, with The Cribs splitting their time between Wakefield and London. Currently demoing new material, 'Housewife' is taken from the new sessions.

The cover of the single features the Jarman brothers messing around with the public's perception of them. The Cribs are shown dressed in drag, resembling housewives for the new single.

Meanwhile, guitarist Johnny Marr has been busy working on soundtrack projects. The former Smiths icon added his glistening chords to the main theme of hit Hollywood production 'Inception'.

Now the guitarist is set to work on the theme tune for a high profile comedy series on Channel 4. Created by the writers of Arrested Development and Extras, the new show is set to air later this year.

The Wombats to release comeback single in September

The Wombats are to release their comeback single next month.

'Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)' is out on on September 27. The single has been produced by Eric Valentine, who has worked with the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age and Lostprophets, while drummer Dan Haggis has said the record marks a departure from their 2007 debut, 'A Guide To Love, Loss and Desperation'.

"We've approached this album slightly differently from the last," he explained. "Whereas the first album was practically recorded live with a few overdubs, this time round we've had the time to really play with the sonics. Now we just can't wait to get out their and get sweaty."

As well as Valentine, producer Jacknife Lee has also worked on the album, which is yet to be titled.

Arcade Fire have bagged the first UK Number One of their career today (August 8), with new album 'The Suburbs' going straight to the top of the Albums Chart.

The Canadian band saw off competition from Eminem's 'Recovery' to claim the top slot.

Maximo Park's Paul Smith Solo Album

Maximo Park frontman Paul Smith has announced details of his forthcoming solo album, 'Margins'.

Due to be released on October 11th on Smith's own Billingham Records, it was recorded over the past four years with friend and co-producer Andy Hodson and features Field Music's Brewis brothers in supporting roles. As Smith explains, “After recording about five or six songs over the course of the last few years I realised I was making an album.”

Bassist and singer Jamie Reynolds talks about 'Surfing The Void'...

Three years have elapsed since Klaxons gave the music industry a much-needed injection of energy with their Mercury Prize-winning debut 'Myths Of The Near Future' in 2007. In that time, they've toured relentlessly and – if past interviews are to be believed – battled to make the album's follow-up.

Yet, after a change of producer and direction, they're back with 'Surfing The Void'. So what better time to talk to bassist and singer Jamie Reynolds about the album and – amongst other things – what it's like performing sober.

'Surfing The Void' kicks off with new single ‘Echoes’. Is it intended as a statement of intent for the album as a whole?

“I think so, although I think it’s just the bridge between the two records - the one that we’d carried along with us for the longest amount of time - and it felt like the first one that we should let people hear. It definitely kicks, but the intents is all the way through it and I don’t think it’s fair to put it all on one track.”

Do you think it was important to have that bridge because it’s been three years since your debut ‘Myths Of The Near Future’?

“No, because I don’t think three years is a problem - I think that’s a pretty standard amount of time it takes for bands to put records out. I just think that it’s feasible and that we loved it, and it was the one we wanted people to hear.”

‘Surfing The Void’ sounds like a very hedonistic journey. Do you thinks that’s representative of how you are as people?

“It’s very much what the band represents - that kind of celebration and release - and the album sort of speaks of our experiences with that in mind over the last couple of years.”

Can you just talk a bit about the recording process and how the album came together.

“There were two songs - ‘Echoes’ and ‘Valleys Of The Calm Trees’ - we’d had for a year and a half, and then the whole of thing came together when we finished touring last September. It was a two month period where we rehearsed and we were writing - and it’s during that two month period that the bulk of the record came together during that period of time.”

It’s been well documented that you worked with different producers, including Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford. What eventually led you to settle with Ross Robinson (The Cure, At The Drive-In)?

“All the chat wasn’t really correct about the producers. We only really ever worked with James Ford and there was only a two day period where we didn’t have a producer. And it was during that point that Ross came to us completely our of the blue and asked us if he could be the producer, and it was just one of the moments where we went, ‘Wow, that’s exactly what we need.’

“Given that we’d already written the songs we didn’t think that he was going to drag us in another direction. If you look at the bands that he’s working with - no matter what they sound like - he always manages to get people perform to the best possible. And that need to drag the best out of us was the correct approach for the record.”

Do you think he managed to capture the live side of Klaxons?

“He’d never heard us, he’d never seen us - he had absolutely no idea. All he did was get whatever it was out of playing our instruments out to the absolutely best of our ability.”

In hindsight, is that a good idea that he had no expectation except for the songs?

“Yeah, absolutely. There was just no conversation about music - that’s the really exciting thing. All he knows is what you’re working on at that exact point in time, and how to make that the absolutely best it can be.”

You previously said that there was some “denser” songs that you left off the record. Are there plans to release them down the line?

“Yeah, absolutely. They’re just being mixed now and will be out some point early next year. We want absolutely everything…I mean, what will happen is a collection of those songs will come out as b-sides to singles from this record and those that don’t we’ve also got a collection of songs that make up an EP, and we want that to come out early next year, which is very exciting for us. We want people to hear absolutely everything we’ve done over this period and dispel any myths about there being any problems.”

Does the music change quit noticeably sound wise?

“Yeah, absolutely. I think we were making very slow, very dense and very beautiful music that had no consideration to putting towards a Klaxons record - we were just exploring our craft and just exploring the fact that we were becoming songwriters. We weren’t thinking about it in the sense of the seconds Klaxons record, we were just making weird music which we absolutely loved and are excited for people to hear.”

Was there a point last year where your record label said you need to make a second album?

“No, there was nothing coming from the label with regards to having to do stuff. It was our decision after our gig in Coventry [in July, 2009] to start making the record. Particularly I think for myself and Simon [Taylor] we hadn’t decided that we were going to make another record, and that was the point that we had to start making it.”

‘Myths Of The Near Future’ received widespread critical acclaim, including the 2007 Mercury Prize for best album. Did that add a certain level of expectation and pressure to the record process?

“I don’t think so. For us it’s just about making the right personal expression. I know I’m quoted as talking about us as being a pop band, and that’s first and foremost what we are, and the difference between this and the music that comes out next year is that’s not pop music. I think that we are a pop band - we’ve always said that from the beginning - and so with that in mind only for ourselves to make pop music that excites us. The pressure aren’t thinking about commercial success - that doesn’t come into our minds - we just want to challenge ourselves to write pop music.”

You must be excited to be back on the road and finally playing this record live?

“Yeah, absolutely, We’re fourteen gigs in to playing this record live now and it couldn’t be going better. We’re performing better than we ever have, we’ve got a new approach to playing. Our whole thing is that we make music for other people to enjoy and celebrate, and playing live is where the band is best.”

How has your approach to performing live changed?

“We’re kind of stronger and we’re sober - I think the sobriety thing’s got a massive thing to do with it. We’re actually figured out that we can play these songs and we’re going on stage sober and playing them to their best, playing into the songs, where as before we were just a train wreck. Now we’re playing as a strong unit.”

Did you get together as a band and make the decision that you needed that approach?

“No it just came from working with Ross really, I mean that was our approach to making the record, and it’s just continued into the performing the record and it’s making all the old ones sound better and the new ones sounding great. It’s exciting for us at this point in time.”

When you emerged you were immediately heralded as the leaders of new rave. Since then a number of bands have adopted the sound. Do you feel like you've inspired them?

“Do you know what - and I say this quite a lot - is that all I really want is a band to come and blow us out the water. If I could have any influence, I’d want people to think that we were a bag of shit and want to beat us.”

Is that from a competitive mindset?

“No, just for the sake of creativity, you know. I just want people to beat us, to smash us. That’s what I’d love - I’d love to be in awe of some band coming along and smashing us, that’s really what I kind of hope for.”

Kings Of Leon Name New Album 'Come Around Sundown'

Kings Of Leon have revealed the title and release date for their fifth studio album.

The 13-track LP, entitled 'Come Around Sundown', will be released on October 18.

The follow-up to 2009's 'Only By The Night' was recorded alongside Norah Jones-producer Jacquire King.

The album has also seen the band introduce new instruments, including a fiddle and trumpet.

Kings Of Leon previewed a host of songs from the album during their recent headlining appearance at London's Hyde Park in June.

The band are due to return to the UK later this month to headline the V Festival.

Indie rock group Arcade Fire to play two shows at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

MANHATTAN — When an indie rock band plays Madison Square Garden, can they still be called "indie"?

We'll find out on Wednesday night when Arcade Fire begins a two-night engagement at MSG in support of their new album, "The Suburbs," which was released on Tuesday to rave reviews.

"Put 'The Suburbs' on repeat and days could pass before the urge to change the record takes hold," said BBC Music.

As of Tuesday at 2 p.m., it appeared tickets could still be purchased for Thursday's show, despite some reports that the 20,000-seat venue was sold out for both nights.

Arcade Fire, which has roots in Houston, Texas, but is based in Montreal, Canada, has been a favorite among indie rock fans since their 2004 breakout album, Funeral.

But thanks to the band's music being used in official ads for the 2010 Super Bowl and in trailers for such films as "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Where the Wild Things Are," Arcade Fire has broken through to the mainstream.

Wednesday and Thursday nights' shows begin at 8 p.m. The band Spoon, indie rock heroes in their own right, will serve as the opening act.

Placebo have announced details of a one-off gig in London next month.

The band are set to play Brixton Academy on September 27 to mark the release of their album ‘Battle For The Sun: Redux Edition’.

The reissued edition of their 2009 LP is due to be released on the same day. IT has been remastered and includes a 2010 mix of 'Bright Lights'.

Kings Of Leon to release new album in October?

Kings Of Leon look set to release their new album in October.

According to DirectCurrentMusic.com, the group's record label RCA have issued a release schedule which states the Nashville band's fifth LP is due out on October 19.

Neither the group or label have officially confirmed the date yet, although frontman Caleb Followill did recently admit they would "play the whole of our new album live if it was up to us".

As previously reported, the as-yet untitled follow-up to 2008's 'Only By The Night' will have a "chilled out" and "beach-y" feel, while the band have been showcasing a number of new songs live including 'Southbound', 'Immortals' and 'Radioactive'.

Kings Of Leon will embark on a tour of the US in August and September, and will also headline this year's V Festival.

Liam Gallagher: 'Oasis will only reform when we're fucking skint'

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has said his former band will only get back together when they're "fucking skint".

The singer, who is currently recording his debut with his new band Beady Eye, dismissed any chance of his group getting back together in the near future at the launch of his first Pretty Green pop-up store in London today (July 30).

"The only reason why Oasis will come back is when we're fucking skint. I'm far from skint as you can tell - and I won't be skint for a long, long fucking time. Believe me, it ain't gonna be happening," he said.

His comments come after he recently said that although he was initially "gutted" about the Oasis split, it was "the best thing that's ever happened".

He also claimed Beady Eye - which features former Oasis men Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock - have written the "best record you'll hear for the next 50 years".

"We have this tune and it was a bit Rolling Stonesy, and I didn't like it," he said of the recording sessions for the group's debut album, which is due out next year. "It was slow and boring. So we just got on a piano and fuck it up, Jerry Lee style, and stuck a John Lennon vocal on the top. It's good."

Gallagher also admitted that his priority at the moment is perfecting his new Beatles biopic based on Richard DiLello's EMI memoir The Longest Cocktail Party, which charts the story of record company at the end of the 1960s.

"It's a good book and we can't balls it up now so the heat is on," he told Sky News. "I'm more worried about getting that book right than getting the clothes right, and my record right. I'm not going to be in the film but I'm worried about getting it right, because it's other people's lives."

Mystery Jets - Serotonin album review

This mates have been working hard to make a third more mature album, I think they got it.

Well after some months without activity from New Rock Corner, due to some problems with the creators of the blog, we are back! And nothing better to make a new start than a review of the new Mystery Jets album.

Right on the first track you get an introduction of whats is coming, "Alice Springs" a great song showing a mature sound and a more melodic tune from their past ones. From this start to the end we receive a boost of intense fast indie rock tracks based on great guitar riffs.

On the second track we also realise that they are trying new paths, making a great "indie ballad", I think they've done a better job replacing wicked songs like "Umbrellahead" from the last album, with two great slow indie rocks tunes, that makes you think you are listening to a great rock band, capable of great tunes. The other great "slow" tune is "Melt", at the end of the album making you remind that after all this is a good album.

I've talked about the evolution of this work, but I still have to say that this is still Mystery Jets, the band that have the power to sing along with their finest tunes. The ones I'm referring to are, "Flash A Hungry Smile", "Dreaming Of Another World" and "Lady Grey". This ones remind us the good thing about MJ, that they have a funny way of making music and that they will never forget how to do it. Singing about girls, life, and of course love this album is pretty good to listen while you're driving to the beach or to a festival, just making you fell good, happy and with will to spend a good time with your friends.

There's also a very good use of keyboard in some tunes making it modern, at the same time it keeps the classic british riffs. Well to finish Mystery Jets made a great album, full of classic tunes modernized to make you hearing again The Beatles, and to introduce you to Klaxons. This album makes your brain get filled with "Serotonin" to stay happy for the rest of the day!

Well it's an 8 out of 10!

The Drums have released their new single "Best Friend"

A single for their upcoming debut album that seems to be a very excitant and dancing song, after singles like "Let's Go Surfing" and "I Felt Stupid" they continue to make very good music.

Jonathan Pierce the singer revealed that the track is an ode from one member of the group to another. "'Best Friend' is a special song to us," he claimed. "It is my favourite song that we have. It's the first song we wrote when starting the band and to write it with my closest friend, Jacob, makes it all the more sentimental for me."

Continuing, Pierce revealed that he decided to pretend that his band mate had died to make the song more beatiful. "Rather than simply singing about our friendship, we decided to pretend Jacob died, and the song became much more beautiful to us," he said. "Jacob feels like he died a long time ago anyways. His soul belongs to hell."

Radiohead pay tribute to Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous

Radiohead's Colin Greenwood has paid tribute to Spaklehorse's Mark Linkous, who commited suicide on Saturday (March 6).

The Oxford band had Sparklehorse as their tour support in 1996, while in 1998 the two acts recorded a cover of Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here' together (hear it below).

Wirting on Radiohead.com, guitarist Greenwood highlighted the importance of Linkous' music.

"I was very sad to hear the news that Mark Linkous has died. He and his band toured with us in Europe, at the start of 'OK Computer', and they were great every night," he recalled.

"His first two records were very important to me, and I carried his music from the tour into my life, and my friends' lives too. He was softly spoken, with an old south courtesy I hadn’t heard before: he introduced me to Daniel Johnston's music, and the West Virginian writing of Pinckney Benedict. Mark wrote and played some beautiful music, and we're lucky to have it. Rest in peace."

Linkous killed himself outside a friend's house in Knoxville, Tennessee.

May is shaping up to be a prime time for festival-ready indie rock with the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Broken Social Scene, Band of Horses, the Black Keys, and the Hold Steady releasing new albums that month.

Here's another big name: The National's fifth LP, High Violet, is due out May 10 in the UK and May 11 everywhere else via 4AD. This year will be a new era for The National, as said by frontman Matt Berninger.

Kaiser Chiefs, Pigeon Detectives join campaign to unveil Leeds Utd owners

Kaiser Chiefs and The Pigeon Detectives have added their voices to those demanding to know details of who owns their favourite football team, Leeds United.

The club's chairman Ken Bates and the Football League have not disclosed the identity of the off-shore owners of the club despite calls from polititians and fans to do so. Now the two Leeds bands have commented.

Kaiser Chiefs played a gig at Elland Road, Leeds United's ground, in 2008, with bassist Simon Rix now telling the Guardian that he believed the overwhelming majority of the club's fans would want to know who owned their team.

"I would definitely prefer to know who owns Leeds United," he said. "The club is doing OK at the moment so providing the backers are financially stable, given what we’ve been through I'll be happy. 99 percent of Leeds fans will want to know who owns the club."

Fellow Leeds band The Pigeon Detectives told the newspaper, "Look at the predicament Portsmouth are in [the club are in administration] and how unsettling an effect the circus around ownership has had on the club.

"The fans have the right to know where their hard-earned, spent on ticket fees and shirt sales, is going. It all sounds dodgy and shrouds the business dealings of the club in uncertainty."

The owners of the club, although anonymous, have been declared "fit and proper" to own the team by the Football League.

Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack's side-project Pin Me Down are set to release their debut album next month.

Pin Me Down comprises Lissack plus US singer-songwriter Milena Mepri, and the pair's self-titled album is set to come out on April 19.

The album was recorded last year by producers Alex Elena and Daniel Lingren in London and New York.

Kate Nash reveals second album title

Kate Nash has exclusively revealed to NME.COM that the title of her forthcoming second album will be 'My Best Friend Is You'.

The follow-up to 2007's 'Made Of Bricks' is set for release on April 19 and was produced by former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler. The first single from it, 'Doo Wah Do', will be released on April 12.

Nash recently revealed details of a host of intimate tour dates set for this month.

Andy Burrows (Razorlight ex-drummer) makes live debut with 'solo' band

Andy Burrows played his first show with his new 'solo' band in London last night (March 3).

The former Razorlight man, who has recently drummed with We Are Scientists, took to the stage at the Luminaire venue in Kilburn with the group he has christened I Am Arrows after his forthcoming debut album, which will be released in the summer.

Burrows and his group, which includes his brother Ben on bass, played a selection of the tracks which were recorded with Bloc Party and Noah And The Whale producer Eliot James late last year.

"It was so good to finally get out and play the songs live," Burrows told NME.COM after the show. "We had a lot of fun and I can't wait to get out & do it again."

Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders and Richard Hawley deliver Sheffield talk

Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders and Richard Hawley took part in a panel discussion about their home city Sheffield at Sheffield Hallam University last night (March 2).

The topics of discussion included the city's bid to be 2013 Capital Of Culture, music licensing and Arctic Monkeys' early forays into the online music world.

Hawley was on typically charismatic form, regaling the near-capacity crowd with a number of anecdotes and delivering forthright views about his city of birth and musical career.

Asked about Sheffield's bid to be 2013's Capital of Culture, Hawley declared: "Personally, I don't think it'd do us any good. We just get on with doing what we do. No need for accolades, thank you very much."

During the interval the advert for Häagen-Dazs ice cream, featuring Hawley's song 'Open Up Your Door', was shown to the audience. When proceedings resumed the singer spoke of his decision to license his music to the company.

"I've been asked loads over the years [for his music to be used on adverts]," he said, "but I have issues with the whole corporate thing. But when I found out I'd get two years worth of free ice cream, our lass said, 'You're doing it!'. I stopped it after a year, though, as I didn't want her to have to be airlifted out of the house!"

He joked that, due to the length of the material on recent album 'Truelove's Gutter', the advert was also a good way for him to get his new songs heard.

"Häagen-Dazs is the only fucking thing I could get played on!" he said. "The radio,
these days, is being used against us – it's music to wash the cars to. No spiritual depth. It's creative fascism, the kids these days are being told they should only write songs that are two-and-a-half minutes. I'm from the John Peel generation, so my response was to say 'Fuck off' and think, 'I'll make a single that's ten minutes long'."

Helders, wearing a smart suit and still sporting a mop of curly hair, remained
relatively quiet throughout, though recalled how his band had had no role in getting his band's original demos – recorded at 2Fly Studios in Sheffield – online back in 2003.

"We didn't even know how to do it, it was a friend of ours [who put their songs online]," he explained. "It was only when we started seeing people in the crowd that we didn't recognise that we started thinking, 'That internet's a good tool!'"

The talk's other panelists included artist Pete McKee, broadcaster/playwright Rony Robinson and songwriter/producer Elliott Kennedy – who exlplained that Bryan Adams, Celine Dion and The Spice Girls have all visited his Sheffield studio over the years.

Money raised from entry fees to the talk (over £3,000) will be used to help preserve the Minerva Frieze – a Godfrey Sykes art piece made in 1984 which is currently on display at the university.

Kings Of Leon and Kasabian are set to play headline slots at this year's V Festival, it has been announced.

Foals announce new single

Foals have announced a new UK and Ireland tour for April and May, plus details of the lead single from their forthcoming second album.

The band will kick off the 11-date gig run on April 29 in Liverpool, before releasing 'This Orient', the first single from second album 'Total Life Forever', on May 3.

Arctic Monkeys will hang out with P.Diddy

Arctic Monkeys are set to be taught "hip-hop ways" by P. Diddy.

The rap mogul, who struck up an unlikey friendship with the Sheffield group last year, is meeting up with the band next month.

"We speak to him at least three times a week," drummer Matt Helders told The Mirror "We are going to Miami in a few weeks and are going to be hanging out with him. He's going to be teaching us the hip-hop ways."

When asked if they are planning to work on a track together, Helders added: "He's a good mate, so it would be fun."

Last year Diddy joked about joining the group when he hung out with them in New York while they recorded their last album 'Humbug'.

Taking to his Twitter page, he tweeted: "Just kickin' it wit my boy Matt [Helders] from the Arctic Monkeys!" Diddy wrote. "I'm the newest member of the group! I'm signing him to Bad Boy [Diddy's record label]."

Meanwhile earlier this week, Arctic Monkeys beat Muse to Best Live Band at Shockwaves NME Awards and despite winning admitted that the band were scared of playing arenas.

The Automatic - Tear The Signs Down album review

We were waiting for these, to seif they would transform their sound or if they would go back to origins, and well this is the "Tear The Signs Down"...

After some waiting New Rock Corner could finally listen to the new album of The Automatic, and as we jump to the hi-fi system to check the new stuff we were wondering how big or small(like the second one) could be.

As we started listening, the first track "Insides" made us at first realize that this is definitely a return tothe sound that marked us, with a mix of british post-punk revival and USA mainstream punk. As we jump to the second track and the first single "Interstate", we start to get the feeling that this is more than back to origins a step into more comercial and catchy songs.

All along the album we can listen to a mix of rock comercial songs and british sound, tracks like "Run and Hide" and "Something Else" define a new influence of USA public, but in the other way tracks like "High Time" clearly show that they will always be the band from Wales that can easily make rock songs that we can hardly know if they are British based or USA influenced, anyway this is definitely a new step with their own record label and with their own sound, let's hope the fans liked as we did. It's not a perfect album, not even close but it's not bad, and can make anyone get stucked with it. As for that we give it a 7 out of 10.

Everyone was expeting a night full of stars, music and off course booze. As always in the so much talked NME Awards.

This year in my opinion, there was more atention to the awards in great part to see who was going to take the top prizes home, it was Kasabian vs Arctic Monkeys vs Muse for best album, best band and best live band. Well we can say that any of these three band made their way to deserve those top prizes.

The night started the best way possible, in the red carpet the stars started to arrive, New Rock Corner was not there but we were listening by NME Radio, We heard interviews first from Arctic Monkey's Matt Helders, Kasabian's Thom Meigan, Noel Fielding, Courtney Love(the big atraction of the event), the duo from new band The Big Pink Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell and much more other. Everything was pointing to a great night full of surprises and of course music. The first reaction was from Matt Helders saying that he was just interested in winning best live band and best british band, and that Kasabian were a great band and they might win best british band.

In my opinion it was fair, Muse deserved the "graal", and Kasabian that never won anything special, made their way to win best album, in last but not least Arctic Monkeys with a very big evolution in live performances literally steal Muse award's best live band. This year surprises, we had Paramore wining best international band when it seemed that Kings of Leon were going to take it, and finaly The Big Pink with their catchy track "Dominos" went home with their first award taking best track.

It was a great night, now just we just wait and see who will make the best sounds this year and win more prizes next year.

Shockwaves NME Awards 2010 tonight

The Shockwaves NME Awards take place tonight (February 24) – you can follow the action on NME.COM and NME Radio.

Kasabian, Hole, Paul Weller, Biffy Clyro and The Big Pink are among the acts set to perform at the ceremony, which takes place at London's O2 Academy Brixton.

The artists (Arctic Monkeys, The Mighty Boosh, The Horrors and Slash are among those expected to attend) will be hitting the red carpet from 7pm (GMT), with the ceremony kicking off shortly afterwards.

Foals announce new album title and tracklisting

Foals have announced the title of their forthcoming second album and its release date.

The Oxford have named the album 'Total Life Forever' and will release it on May 10, they have revealed on their MySpace blog at Myspace.com/foals.

The band also wrote that "something pretty, pretty, pretty good will be happening on the airwaves this coming Monday (March 1)".

Foals have also revealed that they are set to play gigs at the Berlin Columbia Club (April 12), Amsterdam Paradiso (14) and Paris Trabendo (15).

'Total Life Forever' was recorded in Gothenberg with producer Luke Smith (ex-Clor). It will be the follow-up to the band's 2008 debut album 'Antidotes'.

Muse are set to play headline slots at this year's T In The Park festival, it has been announced.

Jay-Z, Biffy Clyro, Empire Of The Sun, The Cribs, Florence And The Machine, The Courteeners and La Roux have also been added to the bill for the Scottish bash.

Further notable names for the event, which takes place on July 9-11 in Balado near Kinross, include The Coral, Dizzee Rascal, Vampire Weekend and The Prodigy. Kasabian and Eminem are the other headliners.

Vampire Weekend, Julian Casablancas to feature on Haiti benefit Album

Vampire Weekend, The Strokes' Julian Casablancas and Beck are among the acts who are set to feature on an upcoming Haiti benefit album.

Called 'Hear To Help', the collaboration between Filter Magazine and American Eagle, will raise money for Oxfam America's Haitian relief effort.

Including songs by Keane, Air, Surfer Blood and Camera Obscura, the compilation also features Snow Patrol's cover of Bright Eyes' 'You Will. You? Will. You? Will. You? Will', Of Montreal's live version of Franz Ferdinand's 'Take Me Out' and Grizzly Bear's cover of Hot Chip's 'Boy From School'.

Being sold through American Eagle stores in North America for $10, an online version of the album will be released on Wednesday (February 24) via AE.com, reports ConsequenceOfSound.net.

Coldplay will release a new album this year

Coldplay will release a new album in 2010, according to Chris Martin.

The band are currently at work in their own studio, thought to be a converted church, in London. Speaking in a video interview with Globo.com - which you can watch by clicking below - Martin said he wants to release the album "hopefully this Christmas". He added that the band are being extra security-conscious to make sure their new material doesn't leak online.

"There's only two people in the whole building who know how to open all the recording files," Martin explained. "Even we [Coldplay] don't know how to do it. We couldn't even steal our own music at the moment. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to get into the building, and download it, and mix it."

The band also denied that the album would be their last for label EMI. "I think we have about 500 more," Martin initially joked, before adding: "No, seriously, we signed for a lot."

The album will be Coldplay's first since 2008's 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends'.

Kasabian's Tom Meighan: 'The internet has killed rock stars'

Kasabian singer Tom Meighan has blamed the internet for "killing" rock stars.

The outspoken frontman claims there are no iconic musicians left because artists reveal too much about themselves on blogging websites such as Twitter.

He said: "It's not like what it used to be like in rock 'n' roll. In the 60s and 70s you had the likes of David Bowie and Marc Bolan, and then in the 80s you even had shit acts that were rock stars. Then in the 90s you had the Britpop revival.

"I think - especially in the last three or four years - the internet's taken a stranglehold and killed off the myth of the rock star now. You know when you used to buy the records and there was the myth behind them? There's too much on blogs now and I think it's killed it off. Nobody's surprised by an interview anymore or anything. It's quite tragic."

He also said blogging has taken away the spirit of rock 'n roll'. He told Bang Showbiz: "There are so many rock stars writing these self pitying blogs and it's not in the spirit of rock 'n' roll, it's like 'Wow, what rubbish'."

If there's one thing Vampire Weekend prove in their new video for "Giving Up the Gun," off their chart-topping new album Contra, it's that they have the most random group of friends ever. Joe Jonas, meet RZA. Jake Gyllenhaal, say hello to Lil Jon.

All four of those guys appear in the clip, which pits a redheaded cutie against a string of opponents in a tennis tournament, officiated by Wu-Tang Clan member RZA. She duels Jonas and Gyllenhaal, and even scores a few tips on the proper backstroke from Lil Jon. The whole surreal competition takes place in a shiny white room with Vampire Weekend performing the infectious tune in the background.

If that's not alluring enough, the video also features a shot of Gyllenhaal tearing off his track pants to reveal blue short-shorts underneath. Whew. And we thought Vampire Weekend's Rancid cover was random.

Kings Of Leon sold out their biggest ever headlining show in "seconds" this morning (February 19).

The band are set to play London's Hyde Park on June 30.

According to a spokesperson for the band, the group shifted all 65,000 tickets in a matter of seconds when they went on sale at 9am (GMT) this morning.
